Chadar Trek Tour Inteniary

Day 1: Arrival in Leh

Upon arrival at Leh airport, our representative will meet you and arrange for a transfer to your accommodation. To help you adjust to the high altitude, you will spend the entire day in the room. This is essential and crucial for the days ahead, and the UT Ladakh government has made it mandatory to spend two days in Leh for acclimatization. Spend the night at the Hotel.

Day 2: Acclimation in Leh

Day 2 is for relaxation. This is essential to lowering your risk of developing harmful health disorders and enabling your body to adjust to its new surroundings.

Visit the local market, delve into the vibrant culture of this city, and visit some neighbouring locations. For acclimatization, a quick tour of the city might be beneficial. Utilize this time to review your checklist and shop for any last-minute items you might need for the adventure. Here is the list of local places you must visit.

Day 3: Perform Medical Checkup in Leh

On Day 3 we will take you to TIC Leh to get your medical fitness evaluated. Obtaining a medical certification before the Chadar Trek is a government mandate.

Following the medical check-up, the Medical Team will provide a clearance certificate to the trekkers. This will only be provided once the person has adjusted to the altitude and is well-suited for the hike. We will spend the night at the Hotel.

Day 4: Leh to Shingra Koma

After breakfast, we will take a drive to the beautiful scenery- Singra Koma via Bakula. Bakula will be our starting point. Zanskar, the frozen marvel, begins to appear as we get closer to Bakula.

Our trek leaders will offer you some short advice on how to handle yourself on this sheet of glassy ice as we get out of our van and onto the Chadar.

You won’t get it right away, so don’t worry if it takes some time to get the feel of it. Nobody does. Before long, you’ll be offering advice to people by using the Penguin Walk to move around as much as possible.

Depending on our speed, we should be at the next campsite in three to four hours. This will be our first formal camping night on Chadar.

Day 5: Shingra Koma to Tibb

Our next campground is 14 long kilometres away, so today will be exhausting. Walking on Chadar is not the easiest, therefore it should take you six to seven hours to complete this.

During the trek, there are frozen waterfalls to capture pictures. To ensure we don’t go hungry, we pause by the river to prepare our lunches. It’s amazing the last 200 meters to Tibb. You should arrive at the campsite around the late afternoon.

Day 6: Tibb to Nerak Waterfall

At the end of the day, we are taken to Nerak Waterfall, the mother of all waterfalls and one of the major highlights of the Chadar Trek. We start early to get to the waterfall by late afternoon because we know it will be another long day, and then we can spend the entire evening admiring it. Before returning to the campsite for dinner, we spend some time at the Nerak waterfall.

Day 7: Nerak Waterfall to Tibb

After the exhilarating Nerak waterfall trip, we set out to return to our starting point. Nothing on Chadar stays the same even if we are returning to the Tibb campground today.

Along the route, we come across local porters donning “Gonchas,” or traditional woollen robes, along with colourful beaded necklaces and headgear. Observing the locals navigate the frozen river is amazing, as they appear to walk on the uneven, slick surface of ice like the wind.

Day 8: Back to Leh

We return to our starting point on our final day of the walk, having completed a full trek. We should arrive in Bakula in seven or eight hours. From there, the travel back to Leh should take roughly three hours. We spend the evening in a hotel.

Day 9: Back to Home

Trek ends today. Our representative will drop off you at the airport to take a flight to your home.
