Snow Leopard Trek (Shan) is one of the popular winter treks in the Ladakh region because not only does it give you plenty of adventure, but also lets you admire its fascinating wildlife. The Snow Leopard is the most elusive among all the large wild cats that exist. Snow leopard Trek covers the Hemis National Park, which stretches to almost 600 sq km in the valley of Markha and Rumbak. While the other treks show you the natural beauty of Ladakh, this trek gives you the chances of spotting rare and endangered species that live exclusively in the cold desert. Other than Snow Leopard there is always a good chance of spotting many other famous animals like NYAN or TIBETAN ARGALI, LADAKHI URIAL, MARMOT, TIBETAN ANTELOPE, LYNX, PALLAS CAT, TIBETAN WOLF, RED FOX, IBEX, BLUE SHEEP, and many others.

The ideal time for Snow Leopard observation is during the period of November (that is the end of autumn) to March (early spring). Mating season is during February/March.
