Sham Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Leh

To get started with a breathtaking trip to Sham Valley Trek, make sure to include yourself in Leh! Our visit representatives will take you to an inn as soon as you arrive in the city and handle your check-in.

So, relax and get dressed up so you can enjoy the rest of the day. In the evening, you can explore the Leh Market and learn about Leh’s surrounding community; your medium-term lodging will be at the inn.

Day 2: Drive from Leh to Likr

After breakfast, we drive to an 11th-century monastery we begin hiking from the designated starting location. The four to five-hour hike today passes via two low passes. Phoba La, at 3585 meters, is the first pass from which Sumdo Halmet and his three families may be seen at the bank of the Saspochey Stream.

To get there, you must descend along the zigzag trail, carefully cross the narrow log bridge over the steam, or, if you’d prefer, stop by the steam stop for a refreshment and grab a cup of tea from a local woman-run tea shop known as the Parashut Café.

After that, we climb up the sandy trail, which skirts the motorable road, until we reach the top of Chagats La (3750m).

Day 3: Yaangthang to Hemis Shukpachen

Enjoy the hike to Hemisshukpachen! To go to Hemis Shukpachen Village, we hike via Tsermangchen La for three hours ( 3880m). Hemis Shukpachen is the largest village and there is a Buddha statue in the center of the hilltop from which you can get a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and the village of Hemis.

Day 4: Hemis Shukpachen to Temisgam

On day 4, we hike from Temisgam to Hemis Shukpachen. This four to five-hour hike involves crossing two passes. Rongtil La (3790m), the first pass, is around half an hour’s drive from the settlement. After passing the pass, continue down the steep mountainside until you arrive at Metabk La’s base, where you can take a short break.

Next, climb to the top of Metabk La (3850m). After relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery and crisp, fresh air, descend to either Ang Village or Temisgam Village. Visit the historic palace and monastery in the afternoon for a lovely view of the surrounding mountains.

Day 5: Back to Leh

Get up early in the morning, have a delicious breakfast, and get ready to bid farewell to the fascinating surroundings of Ladakh. As you are left off at the Leh Airport to continue your journey onward, gather your bags and weave all the beautiful memories of your amazing time in Ladakh.
